Children’s DIY Mother’s Day Gifts

Tiny World Day Nursery want your children to get creative, so it’s time to get some hands messy! To celebrate Mother’s Day, we want to share with you some quick and fun ideas to get the ball rolling. We have the love heart bookmark, a sparkly jewellery box and a sun-dried pasta card ready to put your name on it. Great thing is, it’s all about painting, sticking and drawing so you can adapt the designs to suit you. It’s time to show your loved ones how special they are with a unique, handcrafted gift made especially by you!
Here are just a few ideas to get the creative mind going…
Love heart Bookmark
A quick and easy DIY Mother’s Day gift that’s great for an avid reader, a love heart bookmark is a simple gift idea that will be used day after day. Whether Mum is enjoying a book on a long journey or relaxing in the garden, her brand new bookmark is guaranteed to make her smile!
What you will need:
– Coloured card
– 2 coloured paints
Instructions:
Step 1: Carefully cut out a rectangle from your coloured card and snip the end to create a frayed effect.
Step 2: Using your first colour, make the shape of a heart leaving a finger space gap between each fingerprint.
Step 3: Using your second colour, fill the gaps and leave to dry.
Jewellery Box
Add some extra sparkle to a jewellery collection with a decorated sequin box! A great way to keep jewellery organised and together. If you don’t want to create swirls, then mix it up with flower designs or use stickers for quicker results.
What you will need:
– Butter tub
– Paints
– Sequins
– Tissue paper
– Glitter glue
Instructions:
Step 1: Paint the outside of the butter tub and lid with your base colour and leave to dry.
Step 2: Using your other colours paints swirls over the tub and lid, leave to dry.
Step 3: Splodge glitter glue into the centre of the swirls and add a shiny sequin.
Step 4: Place the tissue paper in the tub and pop on the lid!
Sun-dried Pasta Card
Decorate with food and brighten up the home with a handcrafted card! It’ll impress everyone and might get them thinking on their feet too.
What you need:
– White card
– Yellow card
– Glue
– 6 Pasta swirls
– Black felt pen
Instructions:
Step 1: Fold the white card in half.
Step 2: Cut out a circle from the yellow card and glue the circle in the centre of the white card.
Step 3: Place a line of glue onto one side of the pasta and place your rays around the sun.
Step 4: Draw a face on your sun and write a special Mother’s Day note.
